Statutory Update: Minnesota Enacts Earned Sick and Safe Time and Paid Family and Medical Leave, and Amends Existing Laws
Last month the governor of Minnesota approved several measures impacting employee entitlements to leave and protections.
New Laws
- Earned Sick and Safe Time – effective January 1, 2024
- Paid Family and Medical Leave – contributions and benefits effective January 1, 2026
Changes
- “Kin Care” – amended effective July 1, 2023; repealed effective January 1, 2024
- Pregnancy and Parental Leave Act – amended effective July 1, 2023
- Accommodations for Pregnant and Lactating Employees – amended effective July 1, 2023
